ABOUT THE PROJECT
Blue Coast Wildlife is a coastal conservation project dedicated to protecting marine wildlife and coastal ecosystems in Brazil. Our work focuses particularly on the protection of sea turtles and dolphins along the Brazilian coast. Based in Praia da Pipa, Rio Grande do Norte, the project combines local action, public awareness and international cooperation to contribute to a healthier ocean and a more sustainable future.
WHAT WE DO
-- Sea Turtle Protection
We support the protection of sea turtles and their nesting habitats along the Brazilian coast.
-- Dolphin Conservation
We work to raise awareness of the importance of dolphins and the marine ecosystems they depend on.
-- Coastal Protection
Healthy beaches and coastal ecosystems are essential for wildlife, local communities and future generations.
-- Public Awareness
Education and public awareness are an important part of our work. We want to make the challenges facing Brazil's coastal wildlife better known.
WHY BRAZIL?
Brazil has one of the world's longest coastlines and is home to an extraordinary diversity of marine and coastal wildlife.
The region around Praia da Pipa, in Rio Grande do Norte, is particularly important for marine life, including sea turtles and dolphins. Protecting these ecosystems means protecting both wildlife and the future of the coastal communities that depend on them.
THE STORY BEHIND BLUE COAST WILDLIFE
Blue Coast Wildlife was born from a simple but disturbing observation: Brazil's beautiful coastal areas are increasingly affected by the impact of tourism.
Every year, thousands of visitors come to Brazil's beaches to enjoy the ocean and the natural beauty of the coast. But the growing number of tourists also brings a serious problem, increasing amounts of waste and pollution left behind on beaches and in coastal areas.
Plastic, packaging, bottles and other waste can remain in the environment, threatening marine life and damaging the natural habitats that make these coastal regions so special.
Seeing this growing problem created the desire to do something more than simply observe it. Blue Coast Wildlife was founded from the idea that protecting Brazil's coastline must also mean protecting the animals, marine environment and natural habitats that depend on it.
What began with concern about the condition of the beaches has grown into a broader vision: bringing people together to protect Brazil's coastal wildlife and marine environment for future generations.
Together for a better ocean.
